Sash pin (Victorian, Civil War, Edwardian)

Sash Pin

This is an old sash pin with a "C" clasp.  It's stamped brass pin with what I call a hook, that comes out from the left side and curls around in the middle. Probably made in the 1930's. A pretty rose and leaves on top and bottom design.

I think it was the Scottish &/or Irish that wore it a lot. It's great for re-enactors that wear a wool plaid cover/ shawl.

You take a wool shape shawl, fringe the bottoms, then take it from your left side waist, up and over your right shoulder and then down the back.  You then could put the pin at the waist or at the shoulder, it looks great on either, to really give that finishing touch to your outfit.

Tell you the truth I have know idea how it's to be really worn. I just used them in anyway that I found it to fit &/ or looked good on my outfit.

Note:  A little copper shows through on the hook, could probably be rubbed/ finished out with polishing. Other than that there are 2 very small black oxide spots on back, which means keep it bagged and in a dry spot when not worn. For it's age, it's in good shape.

Measurements:  It measures 3" long and  2" wide.
