Chatelaine Purse (Victorian, Civil War, Edwardian)

Purse Chatelaine

With new and vintage parts, this purse chatelaine was made.

The bow is a remake of an old style in the "Carrington Jewelers" line. It's made of gold color metal, with even a "C" clasp. Of course if your into the old "C" clasp jewelry, you'll know this is a remake. There are some changes made in it, to allow you to know the differences.

From your left, there is a gold color chain that has an old vintage solid heavy brass perfume bottle connected to it, with a cute daisy flower added on it. Although the top has a screw lid. I rather use it than other bottles (dip ones), since they fall out all the time, making them useless. I have no idea what date the bottle is.

In the center their is an old vintage white glass bead, followed by a gold color chain down to a purse. The purse is dark green with a bluish color tint to it of velvet and a ribbon made design pattern, of flower, which looks like a yellow rose or some other flower . The purse has been made probably in the last couple of years. I love ribbon crochet, yet I don't have the patience for it. It's just large enough to hold change, ($$) and/ or a pill box. It's made really well, it would have to take some abuse to wear it out. The only thing I would do, is add a lining in it. It's really cute. The purse clasp is in gold color metal.

Then last is a brass old style, but new whistle. It's held on with a new gold plated swivel, which are hard to get today. The whistle you can take off, but I don't suggest putting anything heavier in it's place. How great for a re-enactor that need to get a hold of or the attention of their children without wearing out their lungs. Or I should say in some cases, their husbands.

It's to be worn at the left side of waist.

Measurements: Bow at widest points is 2-1/8" wide by 1-1/8" high. Left side drops down to almost 3". The center drops 6-5/8" down, not including the bow. The whistle end drops 2-3/4" down.
