     Amethyst is in the color purple family, yet it goes great with pinks, white, black, lavender, purple and even some blues.

     The chain is a very old brass chain, that I spent hours on, getting the tarnish off. Very period for this piece. It is finished off with a gold plated hook and eye, which of course is slightly off the same color, yet it's period.

     The side drops are slightly over an inch long. This piece was so well done, that even the side pieces are in reverse. Purpose, I don't know. Once in a great while, I notice things like this. Rather it was style or superstitions, I don't know. So we'll start on the left side. From the top is a black flat old glass bead, tiny amethyst color glass, a filigree round brass bead, a old German amethyst cut crystal, a light pink round quartz, and finished with a flat black bead. For the right side, just reverse. 

     Both sides connect to a floral brass mount, with one nicely cut amethyst , I think it's glass,  but really don't know, that is pronged into the setting. 

     They're three drops off the brass pendant. From left side, the first is a small flat black glass bead, a amethyst cut crystal, a white milk like glass facet bead teardrop, ending with another flat black glass bead. The right side is the same.

     The center piece is a flat black glass bead, a cut amethyst round bead, a round pink quartz, followed by a black purple Venetian glass bead, another amethyst cut crystal, and a black flat glass bead.

     The one Venetian glass bead that is on the necklace and one on each ear ring is thought of as black, until you put it next to something black, then you can tell it's purple black. They are the finishing touches. They are slightly different than other, since their 3 sided instead of two, and the center looks like to be a clear glass bubble instead of colored.  

     Earrings are from top, two flat black glass beads, followed by a Venetian oval, a  amethyst cut crystal, then last a flat black glass bead.  There finished with a gold plated French ear wire with coil.  

Measurements:  The necklace measures 16-1/2" long, (including the side drops, but not the center). The center, is 3-1/8 long, from top of pendant to end of longest drop, the widest is 1-1/4" wide. Earrings are almost 1" long, (not including the ear wires).
