SOLD / Vintage Transfer Cameo Broach This is a beautiful transfer broach, made of antiqued brass approx. in the late 1930's-40's of old designs of the 1800's. Great for modern day and for re-enactors alike to wear. You can wear it on your blouse, jacket, and/or waist band. A transfer is exactly like you think. Jewelers used transfers to add more details to the cameos, furniture etc. and some still do this process today. It's a very thin sheet that is clear with the design on it, then is put over a variety of different materials. Then they fix it (make it stay) on, this process I have no idea how it was done. NOTE: You can't tell by looking at the picture, but there are some small little air bubbles on the cameo picture, which for this age of piece is common. The only thing with this piece, is not to expose it to unusual heat or dampness. The picture is of two women consoling each other. In the 1800's there was a large number of cameos that had a variety subjects on them, other than a bust of a woman. It's made of brass, which is very common for old pieces. It has two layers, one somewhat flat, with the second ruffled. There is a cap at the end with dangling chains. Has your standard safety clasp. Measurements:; The broach without the dangle, measures 2 1/4" long and 1 5/8" wide. The dangle adds another 1 5/8" long. |
